The food is below average for a restaurant of those standards and price. I ordered bbq prawns and they were overcooked and my mother ordered calamari which was oily. For some reason we both received a pile of plain overcooked white rice with our meals which had no sauce to accompany it nor any seasoning. The chips was nice but the portion of it was small. The tiny bit of salad ( literally one bite) on the plate had no dressing. In addition, the 'half price' menu is such a gimmick- I though even $20 was too much to pay for 6 pieces of calamari with a bit of chips. I must say the staff is very friendly and lovely and so is the location but that is where it stops.

We all thoroughly enjoyed our meal. Our waitress Kathryn was delightful. A nice surprise when the staff sang happy birthday. Fabulous.

I've been twice, my friends go all the time. We always have a good time here. That is the most important aspect. I recommend to anybody. Not 5 star, because there is room for improvement. What stood out the most to me was the dirty blue turf carpet. Just needed a good vacuum.

Very disappointed. George, this is our experience at your Hope Island restaurant. I hope you read this and have the courtesy to reply. We dined on Sunday 2nd July 2017 for dinner. I Phoned to book for 12 people, 2 weeks prior to my sons 21st birthday, only to be told you don't take bookings for less than 15 people. I was asked to just "turn up and staff would accomodate us". When we arrived, we were told we could only have 2 tables of six with a planter box in between us, or dine outside in the freezing cold with no heaters. We had elderly parents with us and did not come prepared for the elements. We decided on the inside two tables, but it unfortunately meant we could not sit with our son for his birthday. We should have left at that stage as the night only got worse. I did not get advised upon ringing that there was a surcharge. You charged us $4 per head for bringing a birthday cake and were told we could not change chips for mash potato as the mash had truffle oil in it. We arrived at 6pm, but did not receive our meal until 7.40pm. When we asked if our meal would be long, we were advised that you didn't expect to be this busy, maybe this is why you should take bookings George, so you know how busy you will be and roster staff accordingly!! I must mention, after we had finished our evening and spent our money, the waitress then came out with cocktails and port which was a lovely gesture, but all too late by that stage. I look forward to your comments George.
